The Leftist media acts as the megaphone for any and all who consider Christianity ‘harmful’. They use terms like intolerant, hate-filled, homophobic, Islamophobic, racist, you name the pejorative and its been used as a club to defame and berate us.
Christ died for the sins of all mankind! He healed the oppressors(Roman’s and the Sanhedrin’s) families. He ate with tax collectors and prostitutes. He asked only one thing of us: believe in Him. Believe Who He is and love Him. He told us how to prove our love: that we love each other as He has loved us.
The ‘free-will’ branch of Christianity has, for millennia, beat people over the head with a bible demanding that they either believe or they will burn in Hell for all eternity. Walk the aisle. Say the prayer. Get Saved! Or Else! If you burn its your own fault! God is Good!
The ‘predestination’ branch has, for centuries, said God chose from before the foundation of the world, nothing you do can change it so if you burn, God foreordained it to be and He is absolutely Sovereign. All things work together for good to those who love Him. For those who don’t? Oh, Well! God is Good!
The Christian religion is replete with all the trappings of, well, religion! Religion, any and all religions, demand like-mindedness, or else. That works out optically as intolerance. The world sees Christianity as intolerant of all who fail to believe as they do because Jesus said He alone was the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no one comes to the Father, but by Him. That’s pretty one way!
But proof of Christ in us is sacrificial, not religious. Love your enemies. Be kind to those who despite-fully use you. If your enemy needs water, give them to drink. If they come to your door hungry and naked, don’t just say peace be unto you and send them on their way!
I said all that to say this: Haters hate. That’s who they are and that’s what they do. Will giving a hater drink when they are thirsty or food and clothing when they are hungry and naked make them hate less? No! Hate is out of the overflow of the heart. Gratitude may detour or redirect hatefulness but can never remove it. This applies to religion especially! We can be so grateful to Christ for saving us, say we love Him forever and always, and do little or nothing to prove that is so! Religion is not truth. Relationship with Christ is truth.
God gave the law so we would be able to define the difference between love and hate. Jesus let us know that there is no God-given law against charity. He also let us know the condition of and what flows from the unregenerate heart of man in Jeremiah 17:9 and Mark 7:21-23 among others.
God instituted governments among man so we could deal justly with those who hate. We do not need ‘hate crime’ laws. Crime is the product of hate so if we have a law against murder, murder is murder, the unlawful taking of human life. It does not matter if there is a difference in race, creed, color, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. Murder is a product of hating your fellow man. So is theft, gossip, lying, whatever act immorally seeks to harm another. All moral crime is the product of a hate-filled heart. A statutorily defined ‘hate crime’ is a redundancy written large!
Haters want everyone to hate just like they do. They divide. Instead of wanting to believe the reason Christians say Christ is the only way because they love their fellow man and want the best for them eternally, they hate us for our ‘intolerance’ and our failure to reject eternal good for the pleasure of temporary licentiousness. That is how evil prospers–temporarily!
Will haters go to Hell? God says they will. Will those who claimed to cast out demons and do many good works in Jesus’ name be blessed? Jesus said get thee from me ye workers of iniquity, I NEVER KNEW YOU!
Doing something that counts for an-other’s ETERNAL good is not intolerant. Sharing God’s Truth in love and kindness is not intolerant.
Haters PERCEIVE all that disagrees with them as hateful intolerance because that is how psychological projection works. And isn’t perception about 90% of man’s reality; seeing the motives of others through the lens of self instead of the seeing what others do in the light of objective truth.
IS saying Jesus loves you intolerant? Only if your perceptual lens is hate.
