The Peril We Face!

The Peril We Face!

25 … Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

29 … how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

Please think about this long and hard:

What these verses mean to America.

Verse 25 says to every AMERICAN, not something-American, but AMERICAN that if we allow ourselves to be divided against each other by those lawmakers, instigators, community organizers, globalists, communists, HATERS ALL, who would put personal interests of the moment and the quest for personal power, above the eternal principles of morality and personal responsibility upon which this nation was founded, we will be brought to desolation!!  The Government of We the People is NOT centered in Washington D.C. It is centered in the reason  and conscience of each and every one of US!

Verse 29 reveals the plan they are using against us!  We, the strong man within his own house, has freely allowed those inside who hate him and will do their best to destroy him and spoil his goods.  They are inside his walls, inside his doors, inside his defenses and are using that position of free access to bind him by claiming their right to do as they please inside his walls.  As if their very presence gives them the same rights of ownership as he.  Rights to tear down walls, enslave his children, rape and murder his family, sell or destroy his property, do whatever THEY see FIT! All because HE recognizes that man has inalienable rights and has come to the mistaken belief  that all men are basically good.  Consider Jer. 17:9 and Mark 7:18-23

Jeremiah  The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Mark quoting the words of Jesus

18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;

19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Lastly Verse 30

We are at a crossroads in our history.  We have not been so divided since the Civil War. The barbarians are not just at the gates they are inside the walls in greater numbers by the day. There are homegrown haters being produced all the time.  America is a land which was founded on the principles of personal freedom and individual responsibility.  Those who are not willing to support and defend those principles, and live up to them in their own lives, are part of the group trying to destroy all that the rest of us hold dear.  We are a nation of laws. We must stand for the enforcement of those laws or we will be destroyed by those who hate.  Those who are not with us are against us.  We operate on the principle of ‘love thy neighbor as thyself.’  They operate on the principle of ‘my way or else’.

Americans need to stand for what America was founded to protect. We must not let ourselves be bound mentally or physically so the spoilers can have their way. Wake up America.

American Sharia?

Sharia is the absolute antithesis of the Bill of Rights. The implementation of Sharia on American soil denies everything the Founders gave us in terms of rights and justice. I have no problem with Sharia practiced in any country where the rights of the individual are meaningless anyway, but this is not some third world dump that has never tasted the wonder of freedom. This is the United States of America. This nation was founded to allow the individual to be free to live and explore and pursue their own HAPPINESS! America made the 5000 year leap! Generations of Americans have fought and died to get and protect that freedom. I will not sit down and shut up and allow the globalists, and their minions, the morons and useful idiots to steal the rights of Americans in the name of security! Those who give up essential liberty for security Deserve NEITHER liberty NOR security! NO American on American soil should be denied due process of the law. That is the priceless advantage of BEING an American Citizen! Illegal aliens are NOT American citizens and as such are breaking the law simply by being here. They deserve to be treated as human beings and sent back to where ever they came from. If they are enemy combatants they can be treated as prisoners of war. Upon a cessation of hostilities they can be repatriated with their word to cease hostile action against us. The price of again taking up arms against us is death. Since they have not shown that sort of mercy, I think that is more than fair. But I’m just a farm boy who came to value what my Citizenship means and what it cost those who gave it to me way too late in life. I just pray my words will cause someone else with youth and energy to think about and value what we were given more than I did when I made a fool of myself. Please don’t let the globalists slip in and steal it away. The cost is informing yourself while you can and share what you learn.

I want to believe in the COS effort. The Founders were brilliant men and did their very best to provide a lasting framework upon which their children could live in freedom. Article V has emotional appeal to freedom loving Americans in today’s climate of overreaching government. BUT! This is the question I need answered or at least addressed before I can throw my whole support behind the COS effort and I hope you feel the same way: Given the corrupt state of government and the seemingly ubiquitous lack of moral fiber in the general population, how can amending a constitution that few pay any attention to at all, fix our problem? Won’t they just ignore or subvert any real constitutional effort to rein in the bureaucratic nightmare we have allowed to spawn? If we find delegates the caliber of the Founders who care more for the principles upon which the future of liberty can flourish than the interests of the individual, will the huge percentage of the population dependent upon the status quo willingly give up their corporate governmental “security net” for the individual insecurity and personal responsibility that true freedom is built upon? The Founders effort was based upon a real trust in divine Providence. In God We Trust has become a slogan on our money but hardly a principle of life for us today. Without that what good will amending the Founding Document do?

Article V in a Nutshell!

“I just knew it! Elect some people to go and fix a few things and look what happens! It’s a runaway convention! Just like everybody feared it would be! They wound up throwing it all out and starting from scratch! Who knows what will happen now! All we can do is pray!”

— Anonymous, early September 1787.

Well, the prayers worked. On September 17, 1787, the greatest foundational document ever written for the formation of a government of men by men was completed and signed at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Nestled in the midst of it was the very unassuming and seemingly innocuous Article V. It recognizes that Congress can present amendments to the Constitution for ratification when it seems advisable to do so. But it also says that upon petition by two-thirds of the states Congress shall call a convention of states for the express purpose of drafting amendments that the states find to have become necessary. Now the only reason that an Article V convention of states would become necessary is that the Federal Government has become unresponsive to the will of the people and must, by modification of the Constitution itself through the amendment process, be brought to heel! The Federal Government has come to the point that it will not govern itself.

Mark Levin has written a book (The Liberty Amendments) in which he gives eleven specific examples of amendments that could be made and used to rein in the out-of-control bureaucracy that has become so much a shackle to freedom and free enterprise. But there are several seemingly conservative entities that categorically refuse to admit that an Article V convention would be beneficial. Indeed they rant and rave about the possibility of a “runaway” convention that would throw the baby out with the bathwater. Their fear seems to be that we would lose what we have shed so much blood over the last two hundred and forty years to “protect”.

The Eagle Forum has presented a list of twenty questions they say cannot be answered to assure that such a “Con Con” would not destroy what we have. Well not to put too fine a point on their objections yet, but do we really want to continue on the same road and hope that the Federal Government will fix itself if we just keep sending emails and signing petitions? Good luck with that! They won’t even indict Hillary or censure the Administration in any way for running guns and giving other aid and comfort to our sworn enemies! How many petitions have been signed and sent begging them to close our border and actually enforce immigration law?

So, about Article V and the twenty questions: The majority of the questions have to do with authority; whose authority determines the details/rules of how the convention is organized, committees, quorum, venue, officers, etc. What about the authority this convention wields, can it simply discard the Constitution and start over? The fears are, I am very sorry to say, unfounded and out of ignorance. I’m sorry to say that because the conservative organizations that are opposed to the Article V convention are, otherwise, very laudable in what they do and support! But to put their objections in a nutshell, let’s start with the first question of authority.

We the People are the final authority. The output of the Convention of States, whoever its officers, whatever its committees, however they got there in the first place from their respective states, are proposed amendments to the Constitution of the United States of America. As such, they must pass the bar of ratification by three-fourths of the various states just as all the other amendments after the Bill of Rights have done. The Convention is not a sovereign body! It is convened for one purpose: to present back to we the people, the best, most necessary amendments to stop the overreach of an out-of-control Federal Government, We the People in the several states can then agree or disagree with their proposals and those passing muster through the ratification process given elsewhere in the Constitution, will become valid amendments.

The Article V Convention is not something to be feared and fought! If we trust the Founders wisdom at all, it is time for us to stand united and demand of our states legislatures that they push back and require that Congress call an Article V Convention of States. The Founders didn’t trust the Federal Government to do the right thing over time. In fact, they knew it would not. That is why this innocuous sounding little Article is there. I trust the wisdom of the Founders. It is past time to ask yourself, do you? If you are not part of the solution to the ills of this nation then you are definitely part of the problem! Get off the fence! Let’s take our freedoms back!

The Founders gave birth to a nation governed by law, not men. I for one, believe it is time for that vision to be redeemed! It was courage and vision that made it possible. We either have it or we don’t. History will definitely show which.

American Citizen?

Sign a petition to make Congress guarantee our rights?

Don’t those people take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution when they accept the office to which they are elected?  And when they don’t?  We are led like sheep to the slaughter!  They talk about how tough it is.  They talk about cooperation being necessary.  They talk  and talk and talk and with every word our liberty dwindles because they refuse to uphold the oath they took.  Let me repeat that–They REFUSE to uphold the oath they took.  They come up with every lame excuse in the book but there IS no excuse.  They refuse to represent us in the only way that is VITAL to the survival of our liberty and our continued existence as a sovereign nation: protecting and defending the Constitution.

But they get away with it because WE don’t GET IT!  We the People have turned our back on the responsibility that true liberty requires of us.  The responsibility of RIGHTEOUSNESS!  Religion has little or nothing to do with true righteousness.  Righteousness makes liberty possible.  De Toqueville GOT IT!  He said that if America ever ceases to be GOOD it will cease to be great.  Now I know that the job of just getting by in the world today is a great excuse for shirking the responsibilities of citizenship.  Those responsibilities extend beyond just going to the polls and getting the I Voted sticker!  The reason we have a totally out of control government is because we voted out of ignorance or out of personal interest and the principles of liberty be damned!

So now we have to sign a useless petition that begs the people we put in office to actually represent US instead of lining their own pockets when in point of fact most of the time they are in office in the first place because they promised to LINE OUR POCKETS!!!  We are without EXCUSE!  Our shining beacon on a hill that cries LIBERTY to the oppressed is swirling the drain because we are now in the position of thinking we have to give up ESSENTIAL LIBERTY for temporary security.  Our Founders promised that if we do that we will have NEITHER liberty NOR security.

Liberty cannot exist without the exercise of righteousness , whether we like it or not, whether we admit it or not.  Liberty is the reward of God for the righteousness of a nation.  He has and can again remove it for just cause and if you think He won’t?  Take a quick look at the history of the world.  The Founders studied it deeply and what they passed on was the gift of God.  We have turned it into a punch line!

A Well Regulated Militia…

The Second Amendment is in the Bill of Rights.  The Bill of Rights is about PERSONAL FREEDOM.  So with all the hoopla surrounding the INTERPRETATION of that Amendment AND in accordance with the very Name of this Blog “Founders Apprentice”, I feel the need to put in my two cents worth:

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people t  keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

What a militia is, has been worn out. What infringed means, has been gummed to death.  Just what a right is, has even been discussed. But have you ever heard any discussion on just what a free state might be other than a governmental entity?

Well here is a thought:  what if the Founders were not talking about a governmental state but  A CONDITION OF BEING?  –The State Of BEING FREE!  To me that makes more sense than any other attack on it or effort to decode what the Founders were talking about.

To be honest, I have not read the minutes of discussion surrounding this amendment, so I could be WAY out there on a limb.  But if it IS  referring to a state of being, then the rest of the wording surrounding the state makes PERFECT sense in the context of preserving PERSONAL FREEDOM, from immediate self defense to the banding together of communities to protect themselves from roving bands to assembling themselves into a standing army to protect the state and the nation!

What do YOU think?

Article V Convention

1.  How would Delegates be selected or elected to a Constitutional Convention??

A.   Since an Article V Convention of States is NOT a “Constitutional Convention” the Selection process would not be critical. The delegate(s) would have some idea of the Amendment or Amendments their state would like the convention to consider and their job would be to work with the other delegates to produce amendment(s) worded so the several states may act upon it/them
through the ratification process.

2. What authority would be responsible for determining the number of  Delegates from each state?

A.   The Legislature of each State will set criteria (fewer better than many). Logically each state only gets one vote on a particular  amendment proposal regardless of the number of delegates it sends. The purpose of the convention is to draft amendments and when they are satisfied that a particular issue, for instance a balanced budget amendment, is worded suitably, a vote can be taken to send it to the states for ratification.

3. What authority would be responsible for electing the Delegates to the Convention?

A. The Legislature of each State will set criteria for electing or naming the delegate(s) to represent its state. Until 1913 the legislatures of each state decided who the Senators for that state would be. Senators were not elected by vote of the people. That method of
selecting Delegates to fill Senate seats worked for over a century.
Why couldn’t it work for a Convention of States?

4. Would Delegates be selected based on Population, number of Registered  voters, or along Party lines?

A. Since the purpose of the Convention is to produce proposed Amendments to the Constitution that the several States can then ratify or not, integrity of the person(s) should be the criteria. Neither Party affiliation, population of the state, nor the number of registered voters is relevant to the task they are given to perform.

5.   Would Delegates be selected based on race, ethnicity or gender?

A. None of the above. The ability to present an idea for an amendment to the Constitution of the United States and work with others to finalize the wording for it is paramount for the delegate. The Founders made it work and started with far less than they have given us!

6. What authority would be responsible for organizing the convention, such as committee selection, committee chairs and members, etc.?

A. The delegates can set up the organization through parliamentary procedure for themselves to best accomplish the task for which they were delegated. First order of business is to pick a place to meet. With the methods of communication at our disposal today, that should not be much of a challenge. At the first meeting they would elect a chairperson, then secretary then other officers, etc. Not rocket science or anything that hasn’t been done to accomplish other things throughout western history!

7. How would the number of Delegates serving on any committee be selected and limited?

  A. The delegates can set up the organization through parliamentary procedure for themselves to best accomplish the task for which they are appointed.

8. How would the Chair of the Convention be selected or elected?

A. See question 6!    The delegates can set up the organization through parliamentary procedure for themselves to best accomplish the task for which they were delegated.

9. What authority will establish the Rules of the Convention, such as setting a quorum, how to proceed if a state wishes to withdraw its delegation, etc?

A. The delegates to the Convention inherently have the authority to do the housekeeping it takes to do their job. Basic Parliamentary procedure under Robert’s Rules of Order or another equally recognized system, modified as the delegation sees fit to maintain order and the ability to accomplish what they were delegated to do.

10. What authority would be responsible for selecting the venue for the Convention?

A. The Delegates. The States would logically be expected to provide the budget limits both reasonable and necessary for the Convention to propose amendments and act upon those proposals.

11. Would proposed amendments require a two-thirds majority vote for passage?

A. Since proposed Amendments from this body would be sent to the several states for ratification by a ¾ majority of them just as any proposed amendment from the US Congress, and the standard for Congressional referral is 2/3 majority vote, that would be a reasonable bar to clear.

12. How would the number of votes required to pass a Constitutional Amendment be determined?

A. Acceptance by ratification of ¾ of the States per the normal ratification process the Constitution requires of the States.

13. What would happen if the Con Con decided to write its own rules so that 2/3 of the states need not be present to get amendments passed?

A. Since an Article V Convention of States is not a “Con Con” and since nothing passed by it has any force of law until and unless ratified by a ¾ majority of the several states it could conceivably require only a simple majority to approve a proposed amendment and harm no one in doing so. What would be gained by instituting such rules? Would a delegate vote to eliminate his own State from a voice in the Convention?

14. Could a state delegation be recalled by its legislature and its call for a convention be rescinded during the convention?

A. Probably, but to what end? The purpose is to propose amendments to rein in an overreaching Federal Government. Would any State not want its presence felt in an effort to do that? Just because a thing could be done in theory, does not make it reasonable or proper or convenient in the effort to stop the over-reaching Federal bureaucracy, and that is the binding purpose of the Article V Convention of States in the first place!

15. Would non-Delegates be permitted inside the convention hall?

A. The need for transparency is vital! The process should be observed and reported on so the public is apprised of progress made and issues overcome. We the People need very much to know what is going on! Should observers be permitted a voice in the procedure? No, not directly. If serious questions arise from observers they can be addressed through the states. Ultimately any unacceptable amendment that the Convention sends to the States should never survive the ratification process.

16. Will demonstrators be allowed and/or controlled outside the convention hall?

A. Of Course peaceful assembly and freedom of speech must be accommodated and accounted for as with any political function!

17. Would congress decide to submit Con Con amendments for ratification to the state legislatures or to a state constitutional convention as permitted under Article V of the constitution?

A. Under Article V, Congress SHALL call the Convention of States when requested by a sufficient number of states. That is the end of Congressional involvement. The Convention of States then, proposes amendments to the Constitution and the proposals that are accepted by the Convention are referred to the States for ratification.

18. Where would the Convention be held?

A. Where ever the delegates decide to hold it and the States are willing to approve via a budget for their share.

19. Who will fund this Convention?

A. Shouldn’t each State fund its own delegation? Fewer delegates costs less and one state, one vote to accept an amendment proposal should not be a budget buster!

20. If these questions cannot be answered (and they CANNOT!), then why would any state legislator even consider voting for such an uncertain event as an Article V Constitutional Convention?

A. These Questions have JUST been answered and since the Federal Government has shown NO sign of reining in its profligate and destructive ways, how can we NOT DEMAND that Congress call an Article V Convention of States so We the People can regain some semblance of control and exercise some amount of freedom the Founders envisioned for us?  Should we not do what it takes to pass American Freedom on to the next generation?
