Congress shall make no law…

One of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals is: Force them to live by their own rules.
Our First Amendment says ‘Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…’.
Certain religions try to use that to prove  their religion is protected by the Constitution. That is a lie! But many politicians and ‘faith leaders’ have fallen for their rhetoric and wrongful application of the real intent of the First Amendment ‘establishment clause’.

Religions do not have rights, individuals have rights! Where religion tramples those rights, it is neither within its bounds as a true religion nor is it deserving of any Constitutional recognition or protection as such.
Our Constitution was written to protect the inalienable rights endowed unto all men by our Creator! No religion that denies the right of life, liberty, or property to those who hold its tenets in disbelief can claim First Amendment protection. No religion that denies freedom of conscience to believe what might be contrary to its doctrine on pain of death or public humiliation can claim First Amendment protection.

In this country, duly elected government through a legally constituted system of laws and the right of trial by a jury of one’s peers empaneled by this system and no other, to determine guilt or innocence, is supposed to be the only route to deprive one of life, liberty, or property. No religion has that authority in this country under our Constitution. For a religion to set itself up as having those powers is antithetical to the purpose of our Constitution and undermines the very foundations of our system of justice, since it was created specifically to protect the rights of the individual from the tyranny of any group that would deny them without Constitutional authority; whatever group that might be, up to and including the very government itself!

Freedom of religion can only exist in a nation where all men are created equal. That equality exists in the eyes of God.  When a nation turns its back on that cornerstone of truth, it has turned its back on the God by Whose grace it came to exist.

Consider Government as a Hole(sic?)

The Congress is made up of roughly 10% first termers and 90%those who:

  1. Are most concerned with self-advancement (money and prestige)
  2. Next with self-image(how their sacrifice for ‘public service’ shines forth)
  3. Third with satisfying their peer group (other politicians)
  4. Fourth with pride of position (length of service equals greater influence)
  5. Fifth with hearing how great they are (adulation and votes from those who haven’t a clue)

So where do you think you, the voter, fall in the hierarchy of their list of what’s most important?

The bureaucracy of government is made up of roughly the same ratio of those who are there to serve and those who will do anything to advance their own career and/or political agenda!

Like the T-shirt says:  TRUST the Government, said NO Founding Father EVER!!!

Selection and Defense!

I selected the second possibility;  the one with the comma after good.

The first possibility is out of the KJV.  Stating positively that all things work together for good to them that love God, it then goes on to add ‘to those who are called according to His purpose’.  It makes it sound as if only those who love God are called according to His purpose.  Wasn’t pharaoh called, raised up, set apart, to fulfill a purpose of God?  Did he love God? Not according to the Scriptures!  I jumped to the conclusion that called and raised up are basically synonymous in relating the idea that one is being set apart, used according to the purpose of God.  Does Strong’s bear out my conclusion?  Strong’s #2822 called, Kletos is appointment. Who makes the appointment?  Strong’s #5975 Raised, amad, is translated 15 times in Scripture as appointed.  Again, Who does the appointing?  God!  And He says all things work together for good.

The third possibility is from Holman’s and is definite:  All things work together only for the good of those who love God! And who might they be? ONLY those who are called according to His purpose!  I used pharaoh in the example above.  What about Jacob and Esau?  God said that before they were formed in the womb, before they had done anything good or bad, Jacob have I loved and Esau have I hated, that the purpose of God might be fulfilled!  I submit that both were called according to His purpose, and as such this translation written so that it is to be understood that all things work together for good only to those who love God shows how biased a translation can be.  The same denomination that initiated this translation insists that God is Good, God is Love, God loves everyone, God is all-powerful, and that  it is up to us to ask forgiveness BEFORE WE CAN BE SAVED.

Second Timothy 2:15 says ‘Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.’

My studies have led me to believe that the second possibility is the most correct.  Indeed God does work all things together for Good!  That is the whole purpose of this Creation!  HIS creation!  We are HIS creatures!  In Romans 9:21 Paul asks ‘Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?’  He asks that question to force us to face the FACTS of a Creator GOD!  He planned and created this entire universe.  Should we not face the fact that it is HIS to do with as HE pleases?  Should we not face the fact that all of it is created to serve HIS purpose and is called to do so?  Should we not face the fact that every vessel is made for a purpose either to honor or dishonor?  That being the case, all things work together for good because that is the ultimate purpose of God for His Creation!  Then we can understand that all things work together for good BOTH to those who love God AND to those who are called according to His purpose!

We can believe that in spite of the perceived evil around us, because the evil in this realm was banished from the eternity we are destined to share with Jesus Christ!

And one little comma is the difference.  God uses the small things to help us know Him if we are willing to look.  It is not our job to decide who is lost and who is not.  It is our job to live according to Micah 6:8.

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Exercise in Knowing God

In light of this translation of Matthew 5:43-46

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

Which of the following translations of Romans 8:28 is most correct:

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

28 And we know that all things work together for good, to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

28 We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God:  those who are the called according to his purpose.

Defend your selection!

To My Love

I need to stand with you and watch the ocean swell with pride

and find its treasures on the shore thrown there by the tide,

or go somewhere and see the trees as they march across the hills

while high above an eagle soars, and swoops to find new thrills.

I need to talk to a tiny brook and hear its answer low

to find the truths I seek in life before its time to go.

I need to watch His mighty hand turn dawning into day,

or watch the peaceful hours go by and finally slip away.

I need to walk where no one has, and see what no one sees,

and when I’m tired I need a bed beneath the whispering trees.

But most of all I need to know that you, too, need these things

and that you’ll share them all with me, whatever tomorrow brings.

When People Love the Lie!

We live in a time when half the nation is living on subsidy of some sort.  None is willing to let that go, so they perpetuate the fiction that some things are free and they deserve the subsidy they receive.  Recently a teacher denied that the dictionary was an authority on the meaning of words!  She said she was probably smarter than the dictionary!  Over forty years ago I met a girl who didn’t believe in the dictionary and said so, quite vehemently!  And I wondered how she could correctly understand anything!  Or believe anything she had to say!  We parted ways in short order.  When I heard the story, I wondered if she had become this teacher.

Our nation is sick because the people in it are sick.    It is sick to think you can decide the meaning of the words you use!   It is sick to deny objective truth!  We claim to love freedom and yet look around and see something we disagree with and say, “There ought to be a LAW!!”  Politicians are more than happy to oblige us!  We live under hundreds of thousands of laws and regulations.  Many are contradictory in that obeying one puts us in violation of another.

The Israelites demanded a king.  God told them what to expect but they wanted one anyway.  Why?  I submit that it was so they could point to him and say its his fault.  We were just being  obedient subjects.  Well, why couldn’t they just be obedient subjects of God?  Because they loved the lie! What lie?  The lie that man can govern his own affairs and doesn’t NEED God!  We don’t need objective truth. We can define truth for ourselves!  That is the lie and has been since Eden.

That is the inconvenient truth!

Consider Deception!

Don’t you just hate it when someone lies to you?  The closer the person is or the more authority they wield over you makes it even more egregious!   Those in authority, especially in the education of the next generation, have a clear-cut moral mandate to speak truth to those needing to hear it.  They are forming the foundational world view of all who depend on them for the facts of history, science, life, health, etc.

Virtually everyone with a public education has seen the drawings of the stages of the embryo and heard the story of ‘recapitulation’ they portray.  The problem is they are fake.  Those drawings were exposed as fraudulent in the 1880’s!  And yet they are still in modern textbooks as proof of the theory of evolution.

There is not now nor has there ever been one shred of valid evidence supporting the theory of evolution!  The light and dark moths in England are cited as proof, but they are still moths!  Darwin’s finches are cited as proof, but they are still finches!  There is not now nor has there ever been an argument against micro-evolution—changes within a species.  All of the various breeds of dog probably did descend from a common ancestor, the wolf.  But all are still canine!  All of the various breeds of cats probably descended from a common ancestor.  But they are all still feline!

The fossil record has yielded not a single instance or example of a missing link between species, plant or animal!  And yet we are still told that evolution (change from one species into a different one) is a fact.

The whole motive behind the theory of evolution isn’t science.  Science has not been able to prove the theory!  No, the motive behind the theory of evolution and its corollary, a very ancient earth, is very simple.   The fool has said in his heart, there is no God!  For, if there is a God of creation, man is morally accountable to Him because He has given us rules and laws to live by.  So if we just eliminate Him from our lives we are no longer accountable!

You know, I think I’ll quit believing in gravity!  That way, when I fall I won’t hit the ground!!

I know, I know!  Gravity doesn’t care whether I believe in it or not.  If I fall I will still hit the ground and it will still hurt!

But God DOES care.  That’s why He has revealed Himself to us, and given us rules and laws to live by.  But as with gravity, denying Him does not eliminate Him from our reality.  It just turns the wisdom of the one denying Him into foolishness.
